Joel was born in Lahore, Pakistan, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 2.  He attended Purdue University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society in 1995.  After graduating from Purdue, Joel spent two (2) years working as Investigator in the Medical Licensing Section of the Indiana Attorney General's Office

In 1997, he enrolled in Southern New England School of Law in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts.  During law school, Joel studied international law abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France, and took part in both brief writing and oral arguments on the law school’s Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court team

Joel ultimately earned his Juris Doctorate in 2000.  Returning to his roots in Indiana, Joel worked again for the Attorney General's Office as Senior Law Clerk in the Medical Licensing Section.  In 2001, Joel was hired as Director of Quality Assurance for Health Care Services with the Indiana Department of Correction, where he oversaw a medical staff of over 500 healthcare professionals and a budget of $148 million.  After serving in that capacity, Joel went into private practice focusing primarily on litigation, immigration law, labor and employment law, and appeals. 

Joel has dealt in a significant amount of appellate practice and has, in fact, argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.  He has also drafted a Petition for Writ of Certiorari with the U.S. Supreme Court in an employment discrimination case.  Joel also worked with the law firm of Wilson, Kehoe & Winingham where he dealt in medical malpractice and serious personal injury cases. 

Joel focuses his practice in the areas of litigation, immigration law, labor and employment law, and appeals.  He is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut, the U.S. District Courts for Indiana, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.  He is fluent in French as well as four (4) Indian languages (Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, and Gujarati).
